Stress Management: After the death of a girl due to workload, the Finance Minister talked about including this course, know what the students will learn from it

Union Minister’s statement creates uproar

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has talked about teaching the subject of stress management in colleges and universities. She has said this at a time when recently a young chartered accountant working in a well-known account firm of the country died due to stress. After this death, the mother of the young CA had made many allegations against the company. After the controversy came to light, the central government has also talked about getting the working environment of the company investigated.

Family and college should teach stress management
Actually, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had gone to Chennai to attend a program of a private medical college. During the program, referring to the death of that young CA, the minister said that our children go to colleges and universities for education and come out from there as bright students. But educational institutions and families should also teach their children the art of stress management so that they can handle the stress associated with whatever studies or job they do or they can develop the strength to face it boldly.

Questions are being raised on the environment of companies
However, the opposition has taken this statement in a very negative way. Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal has reacted sharply to this statement of Sitharaman. He said that the Finance Minister and the Central Government can only see and understand the pain of corporate giants like Adani and Ambani but they cannot see the pressure of the hardworking young generation. He further said that in this era of historic unemployment, even if talented youth like Anna manage to get a job, greedy corporate companies exploit them.

Venugopal said, the statement is very cruel
Posting on X, KC Venugopal said that the Finance Minister’s suggestion that families and educational institutions should teach stress management lessons to children is a very cruel statement. His statement is directly blaming Anna’s family. It is wrong to put such allegations on the victim and the anger and hatred felt due to such statements cannot be expressed in words.

What is the matter
Recently, a young CA Anna, working in an account company named Ernst & Young, died. Anna’s mother had written a letter to EY India President Rajiv Mumani alleging that as a new employee, her daughter was burdened with excessive work which affected her physically, emotionally and mentally.  Only after this controversy came to light did the government intervene and say that the working environment of the account firm will be investigated, but after the statement of the Union Minister, the controversy has escalated.
